We are please to announce the faculty for the Bluegrass Camp 2012. Bob Black will be returning on banjo, Andy Hatfield, Keith Yoder, David Mosher and Carol Palms are all coming back.
You may have heard Bob Black recently playing on NPR's "A Prairie Home Companion" (Nov 4 show). He was reunited with the other members of Bill Monroe's "Bluegrass Boys" for a Bill Monroe tribute. Bob sounded great as usual.
Bob Black has bluegrass roots going straight back to Bill Monroe. He toured and recorded with the late great musical master during the 70’s, learning much about songwriting and performing which he now brings to audiences all over the world. Drawing on bluegrass, folk, and gospel music traditions, Bob creates his own brand of “Midwestern Roots” music, which features both original and traditional songs and instrumentals. Bob has been teaching banjo for over 25 years. He has participated in numerous Jam Camps and conducted banjo workshops all over the U. S. His teaching style is friendly, positive, and inspirational, and his students include players of all levels—from beginning to advanced. |

Andy Hatfield won 1st place in the Winfield Flatpicking Guitar Contest this summer. In 2010 it was Andrew’s first trip to Winfield and the took 3rd in the contest. And great news! Andy will be returning to teach at the Riverfolk Jam Camp in 2012.
Andrew caught the music bug at a young age from his parents: his mother a songwriter, and his father a well-respected banjo player. He studied music at Bradley University (B.S. 2001), where he played the french horn. Andrew has taught music privately for many years including 3 years at the Academy of Fretted Instruments in Peoria, and currently teaches full-time in Peoria, IL. His dad bought him his first guitar, a '56 D28. Andrew plays the mandolin, banjo, bass and some fiddle and strangely enough he says “I was a French horn major in college.” Andrew lists his hobbies as basketball and ping pong but he adds music to that list. This experience is one he won’t forget and he can’t wait to come back. Andrew takes back to Peoria, IL a Taylor 8-String Baritone GS Guitar by Taylor Guitars of El Cajon, CA.

Great news - Keith Yoder along with Bob Black, Andy Hatfield and David Mosher will all be returning next year to teach the Bluegrass Festival Camp. Bob was featured in November on the NPR programs "A Prairie Home Companion" in a tribute the life of Bill Monroe. He was joined by other members of the original Bluegrass Boys. And great news for Andy Hatfield who won "First Place" in the Winfield Flatpicking Contest in Winfield Kansas this summer. He the other members of this staff had such a great experience playing together and teaching that we are excited to reunite them this summer.
