Here is a great opportunity for songwriters to share their skills and get an opportunity for support and quite possibly a bit of fame. Finalists will perform in the Festival Finale Show on Aug 4.  Now that's exciting!!

The slide show above features a number of the Songwriting Contest participants.  Each songwriter performed a song in the first round, then three finalists were selected to perform at the Festival Finale Concert. The background music, "Skipping Stones" was written by Keith Yoder and was recorded at the Festival Finale Concert.

CONTEST GUIDELINES:

LOCATION  The Ark, 316, S. Main St. Ann Arbor, MI 48106
DATE  Tuesday July 31, 2012
TIME  7 PM
Songwriters must arrive 30 minutes prior to scheduled time.  

Procedure
Songwriters submit a lyric sheet with their entry form. Limit (1) song per songwriter. Each songwriter will be scheduled and notified of their performance time.  No more than 2 additional musicians may perform.

Songwriters will have 10 minutes for set up, performance, and a house guitar will be available for use. Writers who are not the performers must be present. The contest is a songwriting contest not an open mic, therefore the writer of the song must be present for questioning and authorization purposes.

Judging
Contestants will be judged based on the song itself not necessarily the quality of the performance.  Songwriters must present but need not perform their own songs. Participants, by signing and submitting an entry form, expressly grant Riverfolk all rights to photograph, video tape, and reproduce performances and waive any and all claims related to same.

Awards
Each finalist will perform on Saturday August 4th at the ARK during the RIVERFOLK FINALE CONCERT

★ 1st: Place - DEMO CD PACKAGE (Studio time & materials for 100 cd's)
★ 2nd: Place - DEMO CD STUDIO TIME (2 hrs)
★ 3rd: Place - $50 Gift certificate
